Doll Dressing has been expertly curated by Colleen Hill. The galleries include something for everyone as you realize that dolls are an intrinsic part of everyday life. For instance, fashion dolls can be seen everywhere. While you may be thinking of the iconic Barbie dolls, life size display mannequins are in all clothing stores to interest people in the latest styles.

Doll Dressing begins with a brief history of fashion dolls from the 18th century to the present day. As you course through the gallery, the exhibition features designs from Marc Jacobs, Patrick Kelly, Lanvin, Jeremy Scott for Moshino, Martin Margiela, Anna Sul and other top designers. Take the time to peruse each and every display and read the accompanying placards. You’ll be fascinated by elements that include “Fashion Doll Foundations,” “The Dollhouse,” “Dolls Love Fashion” and “We Love Dolls.”

Don’t miss the video just outside the spacious main gallery. It includes brief but interesting stories by multiple individuals about how dolls have influenced their lives and careers.

A recently released book, Doll Dressing, published by Rizzoli Electra is available wherever books are sold. The impressive, full-color volume would be great for gifting with the holidays coming.

Doll Dressing is a playful, colorful, and intriguing exhibition that you will not want to miss. It is likely that one visit will not be enough.
