Shakespeare Costumes: The Complete Works – The Public proudly presents SHAKESPEARE COSTUMES: THE COMPLETE WORKS, an exhibit on display in the Shiva Theater through Sunday, August 31. This exhibit is free of charge on display in the Shiva Theater on Tuesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.. Honoring The Public’s origin as the New York Shakespeare Festival and the theater’s dedication to Shakespeare’s work, this summer’s exhibit features a costume from each of Shakespeare’s 38 plays, produced at The Delacorte Theater or Public Theater over The Public’s 60+ year history. Visitors can get a close look at costumes worn by performers such as Meryl Streep, Raul Julia, Al Pacino, Patrick Stewart, Viola Davis, Angela Bassett, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jeff Goldblum, Vanessa Redgrave, Danny DeVito, Allison Janney, and more. Literary Figures to Admire in Central Park – Take a stroll in the area of the park that pays homage to some of the finest literary figures. The walkway leading to Bethesda Terrace, the Mall & Literary Walk runs through the center of the park from 66th Street to 72nd Street. Rolling Thunder Thursday on August, 28 – Two NYC adrenaline-pumping experiences are teaming up for the ultimate summer thrill. Off-Broadway’s electrifying rock musical Rolling Thunder is partnering with the jet-powered speedboat The BEAST for Rolling Thunder Thursdays. These special themed rides will take place on August 28 at Pier 16 in the Seaport District. On the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7 p.m. departures, guests will race across the Hudson and East River at 45 mph to a soundtrack of the show’s iconic 60s and 70s hits, with songs like “Born to Be Wild,” “Gimme Shelter,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” and more. Riders will also have the chance to win tickets to see Rolling Thunder at New World Stages before its limited engagement ends September 7. Equal parts rock concert and history lesson, Rolling Thunder tells the stories of young soldiers and the protest movement of the Vietnam era through legendary music and real-life accounts.
