Jane Seymour was a Bond girl, and played real life people such as Maria Callas and Wallis Simpson. She played Mozart’s wife Constanze Weber in the original Broadway production of Amadeus. For six years, she played a doctor in the Colorado wilderness. Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman ran for six years on CBS.
Her amazing career continues with the detective series Harry Wild. Along with the young detective, Fergus, played by Rohan Nedd, they assist the Dublin police in solving crimes. Harriet “Harry” Wild is a literature professor who is attacked and forced to retire. While she’s recovering at the home of her son, Charlie (Kevin J. Ryan), a senior detective with the Dublin police, she reads one of his cases and discovers she has a talent for solving crimes. She teams up with Fergus (Rohan Nedd) the young man who mugged her, and they close their first case.

While the series definitely falls into the “cozy” category, meaning there’s little blood and gore, Harry often places herself in dangerous situations. Harry refines her methods and it’s amazing how often her knowledge of literature helps her uncover the criminal’s motive.
Now in its fifth season, the series has had time to settle into its Dublin surroundings which are beautiful and to fill in the each character’s backstories. When solving a death at a local girls’ school, Harry enlists the help of her granddaughter, Lola. The young woman and Fergus are soon an item, something that gives both Harry and Lola’s father pause. When Lola is accepted to Georgetown, her father urges her to go, not just because it’s a wonderful opportunity, but also to keep her away from Fergus. Harry attempts to remain neutral, but as she works closely with Fergus she begins to feel he might have been a good choice for Lola.
In season five, Fergus accepts that Lola might not come back and begins to visit a dating site. The encounters get him no closer to finding a substitute for Lola. Harry, meanwhile, is mourning a loss of her won. The two bond over their missed chances and even though true love may not be around the corner, another mystery is always waiting.
