The famous missive that Napoleon wrote to his wife, Josephine: “I will return in three days. Don’t wash!” continues to be declared false by any number of historians. But it’s often invoked by some who believe that natural scents are a sexual turn on. In Napoleon’s time, people weren’t able to bathe as often and covered up their body odors with perfumes (if they could afford them). In modern times, taking care of unpleasant smells were often restricted to rolling or spraying underarms with a deodorant.
Now, however, there seems to be a war on BO. New products encourage us to spray every crevice of our bodies so we smell less like perspiration and more like sandalwood, lavender, lemon, springtime, or something else. Maybe it’s not a bad thing. L’Occitane Cleansing and Softening Almond Shower Oil. If you just want to smell beautiful after a shower, and need to soften your skin so you can shave without nicks, this L’Occitane oil is for you.
Michel Design Works Soap Bar – This French soap that smells like lilacs, has a beautiful design and is triple-milled. It’s the low tech way to smell great all over after a bath or shower.
