Mother’s Day Dining in New York for All Moms

Recently opened, YAO located in the Financial District, has created a Mother’s Day menu of Cantonese specialties for Moms who appreciate experiencing various ethnic cuisines. YAO, by Executive Chef-Owner Kenny Leung and Co-Owner Thomas Tang of the acclaimed August Gatherings, has crafted a four-course Mother’s Day brunch tasting menu at an approachable price of $68 per person. On Saturday, May 11, and Sunday, May 12, YAO will serve its specially curated brunch tasting menu from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. as well as its a la carte menu all day.  

On Saturday and Sunday, May 11, and May 12, The Standard Grill, located at The Standard, High Line in the Meatpacking District, will celebrate the matriarchy of the family with its Mother’s Day brunch offering  alongside their usual brunch menu. These include their Strawberry Shortcake with green tea sponge cake, mascarpone whipped cream, and white chocolate; Lemon Meringue Pie $14 with toasted meringue, and brown butter shortbread; and the  Braised Lamb Hash $25/32 lamb shank, bell peppers, marble potatoes, goat cheese, poached eggs, and fine herbs. Additionally, The Standard Grill will partner with Kinda Formal for a pop-up shop floral activation where customers and friends can build their own custom Mother’s Day flower bouquet.

For those looking for a place to spoil mom and not break the piggy bank, Kintsugi Omakase is an understated, fashionable sushi atelier that is tucked away in Soho. The jewel box sushi counter seats ten and will be offering its Lunch Omakase, a 12-course one-hour experience for $60 served from noon to 12 3 p.m. as well as three tiers of omakase for dinner, which include seasonal appetizers and sushi.  The ten-course Grand Experience is $95; 13-course Soho Experience is  $155; and the 16-course Kintsugi Experience is  $195.  Executive Chef Victor Chen is featuring spring additions to his omakase, which are Hotaru Ika (firefly squid), Sekogani (female snow crab), Buri (yellowtail) and Samegarei (flounder). Additionally, The Kintsugi Uni Tasting is the perfect addition to any of the three premium experiences utilizing a weekly auction-grade Top-10 ranking uni directly auctioned and airfreight from Toyosu Market in Japan.

This Mother’s Day, moms visiting Isla & Co. inside Hotel Hendricks in Midtown or the location in Williamsburg will receive a complimentary treat! This Australian-style, all-day Brasserie, part of the Parched Hospitality Group, will offer moms a complimentary mimosa during their meal. Guests can also indulge in a variety of Aussie-inspired dishes, along with coffee and cocktails, including an Espresso Martini Flight available all day and night.

Treat your mother to an immersive fine dining culinary journey fit for a queen this Mother’s Day at Chef Guo by Chinese Master Chef Guo Wenjun. Located in Midtown East, experience Chinese fine dining accompanied by white glove service in an intimate imperial garden adorned with Chinese artifacts, all set beneath the branches of a faux ginkgo tree. Chef Guo’s tasting menus offer one of a kind healthy royal Chinese cuisine utilizing organic, nutritional ingredients sourced fresh daily for each seating. The dining room accommodates just ten guests per seating, with two exclusive seatings each night. This creates the ambiance of a private dinner party, making it the perfect setting to celebrate and connect with Mom. On the special day, the restaurant will offer a specially curated eight-course Mother’s Day Menu, priced at $298 per person.

On Sunday, May 12, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., indulge in a one-hour bottomless mimosa extravaganza for just $34 with the purchase of an entree. Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere enhanced by soothing melodies of live jazz starting at 11:30 a.m. and going until 2 p.m.
