Everyone knows “the glow.” The subtle radiance that makes strangers double-take, and loved ones comment on your happiness. Yet, there is something elusive about this sunny state of being,  it seems to appear on its own terms.

Ultimately, the secrets behind this magic are physical, mental, and emotional. Here are the factors that actually help you shine from the inside out: these are four strategies to reclaim your glow.

Nurture Your Physical Radiance

There are stages in life when you feel at your physical best. Perhaps that is lifting heavy weights, effortlessly running a half-marathon, or radiantly clear skin. This doesn’t come from nowhere, though.

These impressive abilities and states of being result from sustained routines and commitment. For instance, going for thrice-weekly jogs, short walks outside, or progressively overloading during morning gym sessions. Or meal-prepping for optimal nutrition and creating a skincare routine.

Consider confidence, too. Dressing your best impacts how you carry yourself, dramatically changing posture and shaping how you’re perceived. Invest in structured garments like waspies and treat yourself to bespoke clothes.

Recharge Your Mental Energy

Mental energy is precious, yet it’s chronically overlooked. There are constantly swirling conversations about mental health and wellbeing in the UK – and even an increase in using “dumbphones” to digital detox.

The primary issue is that anxiety and hustle culture follow us from the office. Or, for remote workers, it’s started to creep into living rooms, bedrooms, and anywhere that’s not the designated “work from home desk.” Invest in strategies like digital detoxing, timeblocking, and mindfulness. Recharging is non-negotiable.

Reconnect Emotionally

Emotional connection is the currency of humanity. That might be a Friday night catch-up with the girls, or a Sunday meal with your partner. We’re talking eye contact, compassion, and meaningful bonding. Creating regular opportunities for emotional connection is paramount. Build a routine. Perhaps you grab a coffee and walk with Lily from work on lunch breaks. Maybe that’s a weekly date night without phones. Or how about joining a Thursday gym class with your best friend?

Connection doesn’t have to be organic, either; if friends are regularly unavailable or serious issues are on the horizon, consider therapy or life coaching.

Glow from Within: Rest and Ritual

The glue that keeps everything together is rest and routine. Restorative sleep leaves you lighter and healthier. Rituals like journaling or evening skincare promote grounding and productivity. Balance the two? You’re onto a winner and will soon be reclaiming your glow.

Approaching something immeasurable is overwhelming – previously, you’d be wondering where to start when pursuing a “glow.” With these four steps, though, the process becomes simple. Focus on the little habits, and watch your radiance return.
