New Jersey Shows to Enjoy this Winter

There's great theater this winter in New Jersey. Marina Kennedy lists the shows.

New Jersey has professional theaters located in charming communities in all parts of the state. Some are easy mass transit trips while others are ideal for a full day out of dining, touring and seeing a show.  Check out these 12 selections and find out what’s going on in the Garden State this winter.  It’s time to make reservations and plans for some great entertainment!

Paper Mill Playhouse (Millburn) Come From Away from 2/4 to 3/1-The Tony-award winning musical comes to the iconic New Jersey stage.

Luna Stage (West Orange) Hamlet (abridged) from 2/12 to 3/8-This is a taut reimagining of Shakespeare’s legendary story.

Mile Square Theater (Hoboken) The Young King from 2/19 to 3/8-This is the stage adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s tale.

The Curtain (Jersey City) Richard III from 3/5 to 3/29-This is a bold adaptation of Shakespeare’s story about the notorious king.   

American Theater Group (Basking Ridge) My Fair Lady from 2/26 to 3/1-Experience Lerner and Loewe’s beloved musical.

McCarter Theatre Center (Princeton) Kim’s Convenience from 1/23 to 2/15-This is a laugh-out-loud, heartwarming production.

Passage Theater Company (Trenton) Muleheaded, or Zora and Langston Write a Play from 1/29 to 2/15-Set in the Harlem Renaissance, the literary greats team up to write a Broadway play.

New Jersey Repertory Company (Long Branch) Samantha Inside Out from 2/19 to 3/15-This new play is a drama about Samantha, a woman of a certain age, who has had it with her current life.

Two River Theater (Red Bank) A Doll’s House from 2/21 to 3/15-This is a world premiere adaptation of Ibsen’s classic.

Axelrod Performing Arts Center (Deal) That’s Love! The Dorothy Dandridge Musical from 2/19 to 3/8-This dazzling new musical is inspired by the life of Dorothy Dandridge.

The Growing Stage (Netcong) Cinderella: A Salsa Fairy Tale from 2/6 to 2/15-This family friendly presentation is a clever and captivating twist on the Cinderella story. 

Centenary Stage Company (Hackettstown) Dial M for Murder from 2/20 to 3/8-The play is a new version of the celebrated murder mystery.
