In 2017, singer songwriter Joan Osborne released the critically acclaimed album Songs of Bob Dylan featuring her artistic and soulful reinterpretations of some of his most cherished songs. Considered a milestone recording, she brings these songs to life at her upcoming appearance at Adler Hall at New York Society for Ethical Culture on Saturday, December 13 at 8 p.m.
She brings with her special guest musicians and artists, including Nicki Bluhm, Gail Ann Dorsey, Cindy Cashdoller, Will Bryant and Lee Falco, who join Osborne in celebrating an evening of Dylan classics. These artists are also featured on her Dylanology Live album due in Spring, 2026.
Following her breakthrough song and massive hit, One of Us, Osborne drew significant backlash from religious groups who found its lyrics sacrilegious and reportedly received death threats and protests at concerts. However, in other circles, the song was commended for discussing God in relatable human terms. Over the years, she continued recording music her way and followed what has been called her “restless heart.”
Woman Around Town welcomes Joan Osborne’s unique style to New York City this Saturday and invites readers to email us to win a pair of tickets to the show. Email JOAN to WATExplorer@gmail.com after 3 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10.
