Ever Be the Faithful
Ever be the faithful;
Shining light ‘cross the shores:
Lending hope for the lonely;
And giving peace to the scores
Of the living; the giving;
The lost and the found;
Our elders in corners
Awaiting the sound,
Of their loved ones who visit,
And flowers they bring;
Then hold them so tightly,
Their hearts all but sing.
Ever be the faithful;
Shining light ‘cross the shores:
Who say thank you; forgive me;
And open the doors
For the youngsters to peek through
And dream their own dream;
Believing that one day
They’ll catch a moon beam.
To tuck in their quiver
And sharpen its light;
To shoot ‘way their troubles
Which lurk in their night.
Ever be the faithful;
Shining light ‘cross the shores:
Whose blood stains the beaches
From soldiers at war.
Where families will gather
To mourn all they’ve lost;
And their memories are drowning
From tears at a cost.
And the dogs stop their barking,
As Grandpa recalls…
The names that are written
On the monuments walls.
Ever be the faithful;
Shining light ‘cross the shores:
Where time and uniting
Swiftly restores;
A nation to healing;
A nation that bleeds;
A nation that’s tired;
A nation that needs;
Those who are faithful;
Those who know light;
Then shine it on others,
Restoring our sight.
