It’s no secret that women want to have healthy, glowing skin as often as they can. Unfortunately, sometimes that isn’t always the case. When there are so many factors contributing to your skin, it can be challenging to keep it looking its best.

If you’re struggling with breakouts, dry or oily skin or just want to keep it looking healthy, there are simple changes you can do throughout in your life that will positively affect your skin. We’ve come up with a few tips to help you reach your skin goals this year – healthy, glowing and breakout free.

Start With Your Diet

First things first, look at what you put into your body. Your diet dramatically influences the condition of your skin. Foods high in sugar and unhealthy fats can lead to unwanted breakouts.

Instead, fill your diet with healthy fats like omega-3 fats. Freshwater fish (salmon and trout for example) are an excellent source of healthy fats. Walnuts, flaxseed and avocados are excellent foods to incorporate as well.

While you’re at it, add in foods that are high in antioxidants. This powerful nutrient helps reduce inflammation which can lead to wrinkles. Blueberries, dark chocolate and spinach are just a few antioxidant packed items to consider.

But if you want to start with small changes, start drinking more water. By hydrating your body from the inside, it helps make your skin look healthy and reduce signs of ageing. Drinking more water can also help reduce breakouts. Oily skin can clog pores which leads to breakouts. Hydrating your skin helps balance your skins oil levels.

Watch What Goes On Your Skin

Sometimes it’s not always what goes into the body that influences our skin. Topical products also play a role. Seriously take a look at your skincare and makeup products to see what types of harmful chemicals are in them.

Many products contain harsh chemicals like parabens, fragrances, formaldehyde or synthetic colors. These types of ingredients not only can be irritating to your skin, but they are also harmful to your body.

So check to see if what you’re putting on your skin contains ingredients that can be an irritant to your skin. Natural skin care products work with your body and are gentler on your skin for long-term use.

Consider Non-Surgical Options

Even the best of us need a little extra help to get that beautiful glow to our skin. Many companies specialize in non-surgical treatments to bring back your healthy, young skin. Some procedures include Botox injections to help reduce the look of ageing skin, facials to target common skin problems and light treatments to get to the bottom of acne.

If you want to bring back the healthy glow for your skin, look at what you put in your body and on your skin. Sometimes all we need are small, healthy changes to get the results we want. Other times, an expert is there to give us a little boost. Talk with a skincare professional to see what options best suit your needs.
