You spend a considerable amount of time researching container homes. Looking for different modular home manufacturers, you find a perfect fit for you and finally buy your dream container house. The next step is to install some essential modalities to make it habitable.

A container house is essentially just a huge box made out of COR-TEN steel. Steel is known as a great thermal conductor. In addition to some very basic requirements like insulation, flooring, welding, and plumbing your container house also needs a lot of other essentials to make your house a home. You will need to personalize and customize your container house to make it a safe, comfortable, convenient space for you to go back to at the end of a long day. Following are some of the installations that will be required:

Shelves

Any living space requires installing shelves for placing daily household items. Shelves can maximize the limited space that is available manyfold. Fixed shelving is a preferred choice among majority shipping container house owners. The shelves can be fixed in your chosen way. There are shelving options from one to five-tier lengths. You can also have two or more shelves installed if you are combining two or more containers to build your container house.

Work station

You can also look to install work-based stations to add sleekness and visual elegance to your container house. This will be an area for you to keep all your work-related stuff and also a great space for you to work with comfort and ease. Workstations can be formed by merging desks and privacy panels and connectors. Having a separate workstation will also save you from all the hassle of packing and unpacking everything each time you have to work.

Walls, windows, and doors

These are needed to divide your container house into different sections. You can make these sections as per your needs. The divided sections can then be used as separate rooms, kitchen, bathroom, and added storage space.

Putting up walls is quite a complex task and comprises 3 steps, framing, installation, and wall paneling. These walls are unlike the ordinary walls made of bricks and concrete. These are properly insulated and layered before being installed.

Windows and doors also need to be installed on the sides of the container house. To do this, metal from sections of the walls of your container house needs to be cut out to install windows and doors. Make sure that you do not carve out very large sections of the wall for this purpose as that tends to make the wall less stable. However, if you want an airy space and are in favor of large windows, make sure to install some steel rods to give your container house the support it needs.

Electricity connection

You would most definitely be needing an electricity connection in your container house. In this day and age living without power is next to impossible. Depending on your needs, there are several different kinds of power options available. You can pick the one that will be best suited to your power requirements.

You will want to hire an experienced electrician to install electricity for your site. Also, you would need a meter box and some other equipment to ensure the safety of the main supply cable to your container house. You can also look to install additional power units in your container house. These come in handy if you are a tech-savvy person and aim to make your container house more appliance and technology-friendly.

Phone and data outlets can also be separately installed. You can also install some LED strip lights to enhance the beauty of your container house. These will brighten up space very well with their varying shades.

Air conditioning unit

These are some of the most crucial accessories for a container house. During summers, container houses can get unbearably hot. However, with air conditioning units being installed in your container house you can stay very cool and comfortable. You can look to install Portable Air Conditioning Units, Mini Split Air Conditioning Units, or Window Air conditioning units.

Kitchenette

Adding a kitchen space is essential. You can locate an area not too big but not too small either fitted with cupboards, cabinets, and drawers to be the kitchen. Also, install a basin and a cooking range for comfortable cooking. The basin should be connected with the main water supply.

You can also install a hot water system in your kitchen setup. You have to make sure that all your plumbing system is working fine to avoid leakages. Also, ensure that the plumbing installation is certified by an accredited contractor to avoid trouble.

Bathroom

The design of the bathroom in your container house is going to be according to your needs. The location and size of the toilet, sink, and shower will all need to be considered given the compact space of the container house. It is preferable to situate the washroom in a corner so that fewer walls have to be built.

This also proves to be cost-effective. It is also advisable to install tiles all over your bathroom except the ceiling. This reduces the chance of corrosion in the walls of your container house exponentially.

Conclusion

Customizing your container house and equipping it with all the advanced modalities is a critical task. Be very vigilant while installing all the necessary modalities for convenient living. Make sure that you do not compromise on quality and are impeccably detailed. This will ensure that you do not face any trouble for a very long time after all the work is done and can have your ‘happily ever after’.
