Regardless of what type of body shape you might have, everybody wants to step outside looking their very best. How you dress and style yourself is crucial for your overall self-confidence and it’s important that you feel good in what you wear. For those plus-size dressers, finding that perfect outfit can often seem challenging. However, dressing well and looking your best stylish self should never be difficult. It all begins with being self-confident within yourself.

Finding your own personal style and learning to style yourself before you head out is not easy. Even the very best stylists out there had to put in a lot of time before they finally started to get it right. What’s more, you can be sure that they made plenty of mistakes along the way to arrive at where they are today. When you are self-styling it’s vital that you are self-aware, without being hard on yourself. Knowing what looks and feels good on your body is always the best place to start. And with a few little tricks such as choosing the right fabric, wearing the accessories and using items such as plus-sized shapewear when the time calls, you can be sure that you will always look amazing when you head out.

Let’s take a look at some useful tips and tricks that will help you to self-style with confidence.

Embrace Your Body

As we mentioned very briefly above, in order to style yourself confidently, you need to be confident in yourself. You might be very happy with where you are right now with your body or you might see your body as a “work in progress”. If you fall into the latter category, make sure that you focus on finding what works for you now and not in a few weeks’ time. You need to embrace your body and work with what you have right now; not what you had in the past or hope to have in the future. Fashion is all about embracing the now.

Know Your Measurements

A fabric measuring tape is a very cheap piece of kit but one that is essential if you want to style yourself properly. For many plus-sized people, a lot of clothing is often bought online so it really is extra important that you understand your measurements. As everyone knows, clothing sizes are rarely consistent from one brand to the next or even in different styles within the same brand. Knowing your bust, waist and hip measurements will help you to shop with more confidence both online and in person.

Determine A Colour Palette

There are countless different trains of thought as to what colours will work best for different individuals. Some sources will tell you that your ideal colour pallette will be based on your hair, eye and skin colour. However, others will tell you to look at the clothes you choose to wear most often and try to identify colours that are common in most of your clothing. When it comes to colour, there are no hard and fast rules so find colours that look great on you and just be conscious of the seasons.

The Fit Is Essential

We’ve all walked into our favourite fashion outlet only to find that all those amazing garments hanging up look much better when hanging up than they do when we try them on. This is a constant frustration with people of all shapes and sizes and it can be very irritating. We are not all built the same. Some people have longer arms, shorter legs, different body shapes, etc which can all make buying “off the rack

“ challenging”. To ensure you feel and look terrific in whatever you are wearing, make sure to focus on the fit. If the clothes fit well, you can be confident that you will enjoy wearing the clothes a lot more.

Don’t Forget To Accessorise

Finding that perfect outfit and trying to style yourself to look your very best, it’s very common to lose sight of the big picture. We can become so obsessed with finding the right shirt, dress or cardigan that we forget about putting everything together. For your outfit to truly shine, make sure that you choose the right accessories and shoes. Start with your basic outfit and then take it to the next level with some well-chosen accessories that are versatile to be worn with a number of different outfits moving forward.

Ensure You Always Look And Feel Your Best When You Face The World

Whether you are meeting friends for a drink, going out on a date or simply going to run some errands, you want to ensure that you always feel confident in yourself. As a plus-size person, you need to learn to embrace your body and feel comfortable in your own skin. Simply follow the steps above to style yourself with confidence every time you step outside and always feel amazing no matter where you are going.
